PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol) is a VPN protocol used to establish secure point-to-point connections over public networks, providing remote access and data transmission.

Please follow the steps below to set up the PPTP VPN Server in the Deco app.

1. Launch the Deco app. Go to MORE > Advanced > VPN Server, and tap Add VPN Server.

2. We recommend enabling DDNS (Dynamic Domain Name System) to bind your WAN IP to a domain name. This can prevent issues with your WAN IP changing, which might otherwise cause VPN connection problems.

Please refer to this link for more information: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/3481/

3. Select PPTP, enter the necessary information, and save the settings.

  • Description: Enter a name for this VPN.
  • Client IP Address: Enter the range of IP addresses (up to 10) that can be leased to the devices by the L2TP/IPSec VPN server.
  • Allow NetBIOS passthrough: Enable the NetBIOS Passthrough function to allow NetBIOS packets to be broadcasted through a VPN tunnel.
  • Allow unencrypted connections: Enabling this option allows some clients that do not support MPPE encryption to connect to the server.
  • Account List: Add the remote device's L2TP/IPSec VPN connection account (username and password). You can create up to 16 accounts.

4. The PPTP VPN server is established successfully.
