How to set up a KidShield profile on a TP-Link Archer Router/Deco
KidShield, Protect Your Kids and Maintain Healthy Digital Habits
Unlike most network security services, which only work at home, HomeShield maintains its safeguards away from home. Through the KidShield App, your little ones stay digitally protected away from home, even if they are not connected to your home’s Wi-Fi.
Advanced Features:
• Online time limits
• App Blocking
• Web Filtering
• YouTube Restrictions
• Payment Management
• Keep Track of Locations
Note:
1. The KidShield function is currently in beta testing and is only open to some users. It’s free for a limited time during the beta test. Users will need to pay after its official release.
2. Please ensure your Deco App is up to date.
Before you start:
- You should have a TP-Link HomeShield router, an iOS device running iOS 9 or later, or an Android device running Android 4.2 or later.
- Download and install the latest version of the TP-Link Deco app on your iOS/Android device.
Follow the steps below to create a KidShield profile:
1. Open the Deco app. Go to the Parental Controls tab and tap + > KidShield Profile.
2. Use your child’s phone camera to scan the QR code generated in the app. Then, follow the instructions to download and install the KidShield app on your child’s device.
3. Open the KidShield app on your child’s device and tap Get Started.
4. Scan the QR code generated on the Deco app of the parent’s device and create a child profile. Then, follow app instructions to allow the app permissions.
Note:
Some permissions may be restricted for your security; please refer to your device's user guide to allow these permissions.
5. Setup Complete. You can see and manage your child’s device from the parent’s device. Your child can see the schedule set by a parent on the KidShield app, and they can request the use of the device or ask for more online time directly from the app.
