In today's era, a new generation of wireless network technology, WiFi 6, is on the horizon. In order to meet the requirements of WiFi 6 for higher capacity and faster speeds, TP-Link has launched many new SOHO router products. In the business field, TP-Link is not far behind and will soon launch a series of WiFi 6 access points to optimize the experiences of business networks and meet the needs of business users.
What Does WiFi 6 Offer?
Compared with the previous generation, WiFi 6 has many obvious advantages. WiFi 6 increases the capacity for demanding applications on more devices while reducing latency. The technology also reduces network stalls and disconnections. At the same time, WiFi 6 devices are more power-efficient than previous generations. What’s more, according to Statista's forecast, by 2020, the number of connected devices per capita will reach 6.58: a total of approximately 50 billion connected devices. With the help of OFDMA and UL/DL MU-MIMO technology, WiFi 6 will help businesses and homes cater to this influx of devices.
Omada WiFi 6 Access Points
The first WiFi 6 APs coming out in this month of 2020 are EAP660 HD and EAP620 HD. These two products are dual-band gigabit ceiling mount APs. Not only do they support the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands for maximum performance of wireless network signals, but the EAP660 HD is also equipped with a 2.5 GE Port, which guarantees the uplink speed of the network and reduces bottlenecking.
In addition to fast network speeds, Omada WiFi 6 Access Points bring users many extraordinary experiences. In a business environment, whether it's a conference room, a restaurant, or an exhibition hall, there will be many people who come together to use WiFi. This may lead to complaints about network quality. In response to this situation, Omada® WiFi 6 APs were designed to perform well in high-density environments. Equipped with enterprise chipsets, dedicated antennas, advanced RF functions, and auto channel selection and power adjustment, Omada WiFi 6 APs have high performance for high-density environments. All of these will greatly improve users’ network experiences.
Based on Omada® SDN (Software Defined Network) support, enterprise networks with WiFi 6 APs can obtain highly efficient centralized cloud management. The new EAPs are integrated seamlessly into the Omada® SDN platform, creating a 100% centralized platform for gateways, switches, and more. This integrates an on-premises SDN controller with cloud access and a cloud-based SDN controller, providing convenience for users anytime and anywhere. Controlling Access Points in the network is just that simple.
What’s to Come
The promising AI-Driven technology for Cloud-based controllers will be integrated into WiFi 6 APs in the future. AI-Driven technology helps APs reduce WiFi interference by automatically adjusting the channel settings and transmission power levels of neighboring APs in the same network. This new technology is expected to be updated to WiFi 6 APs in the 3rd quarter of 2020.
TP-Link will also launch higher frequency tri-band for WiFi 6 ceiling mount APs and outdoor APs to meet the needs of different commercial scenarios and diverse customers. At the same time, TP-Link will also launch switches and gateways that support the Omada® SDN, which will adapt to WiFi 6 APs, making business networks more efficient and more secure.
Please stay tuned!
